Twenty One Days of Healthy Skin: Celebrate (Day 21)
We have so much that we can be thankful for and celebrate. As humans and especially South Africans, we are generally much more focussed on celebrating those around us. Picking up, building up and sometimes propping up the people that are important to us.
Have you picked yourself up today?
I ‘run’ to the next task, while thinking of the next training, next meeting, next email. I get to the end of a day and all I can see is what I did not get done.
This makes me feel despondent and frustrated. “When will I get ahead of this?” “When will it be finished?” “When will I have time for myself?”
Reflecting on these emotions, I realize I have not celebrated what I have achieved for the day. We need to embrace it!
Embrace what you achieved for the day and then make time for yourself to celebrate your own you-ness.
The challenge is that what I do also fuels me, it energises me and motivates me. Because I am not celebrating the achievements each day, I am not able to see what I have achieved. The celebration of these achievements fuel me eve more and keep me motivated to do even more. By not celebrating what I had achieved, I was not giving myself the opportunity to look back on my day, week or month to assess what lessons I had learned. And most importantly, what I needed to change to make improvements so that I can make a better impact on more person and their knowledge tomorrow.
Today celebrate YOU!
In the words of the great philosopher Dr. Zuess: “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
So...
1) Embrace the change and what you have achieved today
2) Keep your expectations realistic
3) Have things that really matter on your to-do lits
4) Don't sweat the small stuff. Life is too short.
5) Start applaufing yourself for your ta-da list!
You are unique in your You-ness.
