Twenty One Days of Healthy Skin – Habits for Healthy Skin (Day 1)

Day 1.jpg

Apparently the 21 Days to form a new habit or to change an old habit is a myth that was generated by a study done by a Dr. Maxwell Maltz’s in a study he did on self-image in the 1960’s. He proved that it DOES NOT take 21 days to create a new habit or change an old one. It will depend on the complexity of the task and could take more or even less time. There are however phases to getting creating new habits.

As with many good stories, though ….. Someone heard the facts incorrectly……..thought it was a good and doable thing and Whallah!!!! a new belief system was born. So many people do believe that it takes 21 Days to create and new habit and even though the science is - not - in fact, correct we have 21 days in which everything is changing for everybody. Making it a good time to remind you of good, and some clinically proven, habits to add to your routines. Lamelle does focus on skin and healthy habits promote healthy skin so some of these habits are related to good health as well.

Let’s keep communicating in these 21 days!

Day 1: Skin Care Routine

You might be living in your pajamas for 21 days but you need to keep cleansing and hydrating twice a day.

A very important habit of maintaining a healthy, young and vibrant skin is to continue a good cleansing and moisturising routine. This means that, at the very least, you should cleanse and moisturise every morning and every evening.

Cleansing removes grime and pollution and also excess oils produced by your skin. If you wear make-up this is especially important as the base has the potential to block pores and cause congestion and breakouts. Darker colored pigments in eye make-up and mascara if left on the skin over long periods of time can be trapped in the corneum and will cause darkening of the skin in the area. Sleeping with your make-up on might be causing the dark circles around your eyes?

Moisturising replaces lipids lost in the skin. Cleansing with harsh products and hot water will exacerbate this loss. You do loose lipids naturally. Most moisturisers will contain at least some anti-oxidants and plant-based extracts. Anti-oxidants are needed by everybody’s skin to protect from harmful free radicals (we will discuss these a little more in a future 21 Day post) Depending on the plant-based ingredients used, some will nourish or feed the skin, some will hydrate and trap water and others might have the ability to activate or deactivate skin cell functions.

All Lamelle moisturisers contain active ingredients that are specific to the range and the skin condition that they are focussed on:

  • Lamelle Nourish Range – Uses very potent antioxidants that protect the skin from free radicals. An enzyme used in the product is able to find and fix DNA damage caused by free radical activity in the skin.

  • Lamelle Dermaheal Range is focussed on 3 challenges in the skin that aggravate the processes of aging. Change in cell activity is managed by the addition of human recombinant growth factors. The increase in enzymes that damage collagen, elastin and other structures in the skin, especially when the skin is sun-exposed, is managed with Pycnogenol and Astaxanthin.

  • Lamelle Serra replaces lipid bilayer into the skin and assists in lowering inflammation
