Introducing the AzeAc Peel – your new weapon in the war on acne
From figuring out your tax forms to finding a decent hairdresser who actually listens, “adulting” can be stressful. So, when life throws a bout of acne into the mix, it’s never going to be a fun time. Still, this frustrating condition is incredibly common and can affect adults of any age, especially women.
If you’re one of the many waging a war on breakouts, you’ll be glad to know Lamelle Research Laboratories has just launched a new professional treatment – the AzeAc Peel. It can improve inflammatory acne by an average of 40% in as little as 6 treatments performed every two weeks. It can also reduce skin oiliness by about 13% over 12 weeks. As the name suggests, the superstar active ingredient making all the difference is Azelaic Acid (AA).
Nothing but benefits
Traditionally, low concentrations of alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) were the “cool kids” when it came to no downtime peels that still make a visible difference. However, AA has fast become a crowd favourite due to its multiple benefits. For one, it’s been proven to blitz p.acnes, the bacteria that causes acne). It also packs a brilliant anti-inflammatory punch. Better yet, it can fend off the cell-damaging free radicals that worsen melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).
The latter is important because often a pimple might eventually go away, but there’s always a chance it can leave a tricky-to-treat dark mark in its wake. Due to AA’s ability to inhibit tyrosinase (an enzyme responsible for the production of melanin), it can go a long way towards helping prevent the formation of PIH.
What can I expect?
Anyone with mild to moderate inflammatory acne would be a good candidate for an AzeAc peel. Still, some things could exclude you – think pregnancy or other skin conditions like eczema – so chat to your therapist to find out if you’d be a good fit. If so, your treatment will start with a relaxing cleanse to prepare your skin.
Next, the first part of the peel is applied and then reapplied three minutes later. This will be a combination of 20% AA and other gentle acids plus ashwagandha extract, a botanical anti-inflammatory with antibacterial properties. Don’t worry! You might feel a transient tingling sensation but it shouldn’t burn or sting.
To finish, the second part of the peel, a solution containing a slightly lower concentration of AA with yet more botanical super soothers, is applied. It’s then to remain on for up to 8 hours so you’ll go home wearing it. Again, you don’t have to worry about any discomfort. It shouldn’t feel any different to wearing one of your favourite Lamelle serums. Speaking of which, once you wash off the peel, you can resume your home care routine as per usual, but just avoid using retinoids, AHAs and BHAs for three days.
Going clear
Following an AzeAc peel, many clients won’t experience any flaking but those who do find it incredibly mild. There’s no reason to take any time off work or cancel that lunch with the girls. What you will experience, however, is a glowing complexion that will become clearer with each subsequent treatment. You’ll also be able to treat anything pesky that might pop up using Lamelle Clarity Active Control, our targeted spot treatment. That’s the great thing about AA – it can be used in conjunction with any other topical treatment for acne as well as oral treatments.
So, what are you waiting for? When it comes to beating breakouts, there’s a hot new acid in town and a more radiant, clearer-looking complexion could soon be yours to enjoy.
